WTW!!! A Blog Post?

Where have I been? Reading everyone else's Blogs and living life!

WTW!  I have come out of BLOG retirement for errrrr uuuuum uuuuuh I dunno, We'll see!  Anyhooooo,  I entered a contest on Pattern Review!  The last contest I entered was back in 2009 and I won a prize!  It was a knit challenge and I made a dress.  Well this contest I'm in is a mini wardrobe A match B match C ext.  I made myself a little wardrobe for work because the Fabu Terri of Virginia's Sew Blessed Daughter put us all to shame and made a smokin 80,000 piece wardrobe and won the PR Contest to boot (OK, maybe not 80,000 pieces, but close) and because I needed some business casual clothes.

So, I stopped my current project to check to see if the pattern was reviewed on PR and I saw the Contest Link.  I usually check it out and cast my vote.  Low and behold there was a contest I was actually eligible for and was done sewing! After the loooong entry process (no it's spelled correctly), it felt crazy to not add the "blog" link.  I'm not going back to add it so errrr uuuuh anyway. Yeah.  I made 5 pieces and I'm adding Pics! Work has slowed down a tad so I'm binge sewing and blogging (today). I even cooked dinner and did "some" laundry.
(I loathe laundry). Did I mention I forgot to check that pattern review? (yeah.)

This is my entry photo!

Just the shirt.  It's so soft!

Thanks in advance for the complements and comments! (ROFLMAO!) And for those of you who know me, the answer is still No.  Now that I have time on my hands, I still won't sew for you!  Enjoy Errrrrbody!! Prom sewing is almost over so to my "Sew Sista'z" you can relax, relate, release.  Me however, I don't sew for nobody no more so I'm already chillax'n!  If you belong to Pattern Review's website - vote for me.  Voting starts May 16th.  (is that tacky?)

I went back and added the blog link. (stop laughing)

Update Finally!! Feel's Good!

OK, So I haven't been blogging!  Really?!!

Start over!

Hello everyone. I haven't been blogging.  But - I have been sewing!  Follow me on Instagram!!!  I love it!  It's a quick and lazy easy way for me to share my sewing projects with you.  LOL!!!  I promise I will be posting a review soon.  My son is about to graduate 8th grade so I'm getting ready for that (and school ending).  Lot's of family stuff happening in July so my sewing mahcine is hot and will continue to run!

S-U-M-M-E-R  S-E-W-I-N-G !!!!!

I am still participating in the RTW Challenge and I must say - I got weak a 3 times!  (Those damn Wal-Mart White Stag T-shirts!!) I can't help myself.

They are a great quality, come in a qazillion colors and are great for work! (Especailly since I get dirty sometimes.)  Well, it's just not cost affective for me to make lots of T-shirts! However, I do go out A LOT so, I need to save my sewing talents for those special occasions. (N'ya, uh- uhh!! - in my 3Stooges voice)

My next blog post will be of Simplicity 1665 (View A,D).  I'll be wearing this to the graduation next week. I'll look like a Mom. LOL!!! My camera is working (Woot Woot!) so I'll have pictures and errrrrr thang!!!

 Simplicity.com

I'll also review Simplicity 1355 (I want to make two 3 of these) A Jumpsuit a Maxi and Romper.(Mojo Mojo)

 Simplicity.com

Lot's of folks have reported it's big in the back so I'll handle that early on.

If you follow me on Facebook and Instagram you should see I've been on 1000 with my mojo and it's still hot! (Not like my blogging mojo!)  I will actually (if not on the blog) post these garments somewhere in the cloud so follow me!

Thanks so much for visiting the stuff I have currently on the blog and stay tuned for more stuff!!!

Oh! One more thought. I purchased this pattern for the Cami top.  The Jury is still out on the skirt for me. Thoughts?

Rest In Peace Dr. Maya Angelou

Summer 1992

It was at an event that I was invited to attend through my job. I went as a representative of the company.  Anyway, I was looking around for the folks I had attended this event with and I was approached by a tall woman who said to me "You are so lovely." I smiled and said "Thank you! How sweet you are to say that."  I continued to look for my colleagues.  A little later that evening I took a potty break and on my way back to the table where we were seated, this same lady approached me again and said "You are sooo lovely, so pretty."  I said thanks again - thinking (did she forget she met me already?) and I kept it moving.  About 30 minutes later she approached the table in where I was sitting. with Oprah Winfrey, Mrs. Connie Payton and a Rep. from the NAACP) (Yea, I said Oprah and Connie Payton - Ah-Mazing!) anywhooooo.  The lady looked at me again and said "You are so lovely."  I said "Thank you" again (with a confused smile).  The lady was escorted to her table by Ms. Winfrey. When they left I was asked - Do You Know Who That Was?!!!!  I said no. (My ignorance was bliss) They (at the table) all screamed Maya Angelou!  I said Really?! (Faked surprised - I still didn't know who she was.)

That very next day a copy of Essence magazine was in the mail and she was on the cover!  I ran in the house and told my mom "THIS IS THE LADY WHO I WAS TELLING YOU ABOUT FROM LAST NIGHT!" My mom said "Oh My God!!!" "What did you have on?!" "What did she say?!"  And then she went on to tell me about her. "You need to sit down and read that whole magazine!" she said.  And like all mom's she asked "Did you embarrass yourself!?" I said no. I thought I played it cool. After that, I saw her on TV, heard her on the radio, more magazine covers - All the time!  What rock was I under?!  That 20 something rock! I almost missed out!

Dr. Maya Angelou was a very Dominant but soft presence and I am proud to say I have read her works and was honored to meet her. (not realizing the magnitude of her message to me) I wish I could go back and say something other than thank you but, I did respond to a wonderful complement and I do have that story to share and carry on.

She was right. I really am lovely!

Hello Out There!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas,
Happy New Year!!

It has been months and months since my last real blog post.  I admit I have had no blog mojo and my sewing mojo has up and gone as well.  Uuuuuuuuh, Uuuuuuuuh, wha had happen wuz. . .
I got some work.  As you may or may not know I have my own little Technical Consulting business.  I do Telecom and Computer work.  Well, my little self has been quite busy over the past few months making some well needed cash.

Since I am a little older and a I now get tired, something had to give.  So, instead of sewing, blogging, washing dishes, clothes and caring for my family - I started playing candy "crack" crush on Facebook! That killed everything!  I get to sit and vegetate with a musical puzzle and not move for hours! (My kind of time kill). (OK, I'm not all bad - I did get to see Scandal, Greys Anatomy Finale's and I'm watching Project Runway Allstars). Tee Hee Hee!!

If I don't get off my Azz and make this coat!!  "Dior-Swoooon"
Anywooooooooo,

It's the new year and I am rejuvenated!  I have taken Sarah Gunn's RTW Challenge and if this doesn't get my mojo back then I'm in big trouble!  The challenge is no buying RTW (Ready to wear) clothes at all this year! I can only buy underwear, socks, shoes and accessories!! Well, those of you who know me- know I sew most of my clothes but, I must admit since this work thing has taken off, I've been cheating and going to the store. I even enjoyed my last two visits.

RTW Challenge

Back on the wagon I climb!!!! I'm looking forward to getting started sewing seriously and blogging again.  Let me just apologize to my readers. (I So Sorry!!!)  My last post didn't even have any fun pictures.  WHAT?!!! Thanks for not leaving any comments!  (LOL!!)  I have a lot of sewing planned for this weekend as my sewing friends are calling me out big time and my RTW Challenge peeps have left me in the dust and I don't like dust!!

Stay tuned!  I've actually been cutting some things out!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday To Me!

The Verdict Is In!

So - I went out Friday to celebrate my birthday (I guess). My sister and her husband and my friend Alison showed up.  The weather prior to going out was terrible so I gave the no shows a pass! We had thunderstorms and all sorts of warnings but, it cleared up just in time for me to get dressed and hit the streets. I had a fun time as usual. Anywhoooo . . .

Here is the pattern I picked

Vogue 8894
The dress was comfortable and fun! When I did a spin - the skirt would fly out!  LOL!!  It was an easy sew and fast too.  Since I waited until the last minute to make the dress I needed a quick sew.  The instructions were straight forward to follow.  I just looked them over and did the sewing on my own.  I changed the hem and used a rolled him on the serger to speed up the process. I did not add a zipper in the back either.  This dress has a little extra room, so i didn't have to struggle to get it on.  All in all a great dress.  I may make this again, not sure. I received lot of compliments too!!!  (always a bonus).

Cell Phone Pic - Can't see the dress bottom. :(
The fabric is from JoAnn and is a stretch charmeuse you can find it here. As you can see, I constructed the dress so it is one color on one side and another on the other side.  This fabric has an hombre effect from bright yellow to navy blue. I paired it with a nude belt and shoes since the fabric was so busy!!
Tommy Hilfiger $10 @ TJ Maxx!
Thanks for the birthday wishes! Here I am to start another good year a little wiser!

When I started my blog post, I got this birthday message from Google!!
How fun it that!
