My name is Carol Crocker-Ware and I am the owner of
A
small business that offers group sewing lessons, private lessons and custom
sewing projects. I too was just like
you until someone took the time to “show me how”. In a short time, I learned
the basics of sewing and how to use my machine and now with a lot of God given
talent I'm on my way! My mission is to “Pass it on”.
G-CAS! stands for “Go Carol Ann, Sew!” My sister so graciously said that to me when she saw a project of mine after four months of sewing. My logo is an actual apron I made to keep the dust off of my clothes while I work and everyone loved it. I started sewing after I was laid off of my job. I decided to take a sewing class at the local fabric store for “something to do” during my time off. My goal for class was to make a skirt for me or a vest for my husband. Before I knew it, my love for the craft took over and I couldn't get enough. The more I realized “I can make that and save money” the more obsessive my behavior became. I have read many books and attended various seminars, shows and participated in my very first fashion show in November 2003 where I entered 15 pieces total for men and women.
.
My business began with teaching novice level sewing lessons shortly after learning to sew. My motto has been “If I teach you how, I won’t have to sew for you!” I am currently teaching sewing classes for all level of sewers. I get equal joy from teaching as I get from sewing. I have been in the sewing world for six years now teaching, consulting and I've had my work published in a few magazines. I'm really proud of my accomplishments in such a short time. My largest accomplishment to date is the work I did as a seamstress for IKEA Bolingbrook and Schaumburg. I did the sewing of a large display and other projects for the stores and my work was displayed throughout. I also have the privilege of working with a great young designer for Better Homes & Garden's Special Interest Publications.
It is wonderful being able to pass on such a wonderful gift and my knowledge to others. I feel I’ve accomplished quite a bit in such a short time and I realize this is my special excitement that I can pass on and share with others.
I hope you enjoy my site, if not to learn to sew but enjoy some of my favorite projects!
